UAE announces new rules for tourist visas
If you are travelling to UAE this summer, you don’t need to pay visa fees for dependents aged 18 years or below. The fee exemption will be applicable between July 15 and September 15 every year , the UAE Cabinet announced recently. The new decision is expected to boost tourist footfall during the off peak season. UAE has earlier exempted transit tourists from visa fees for the first 48 hours. A 14-day express tourist visa costs Dh497 per head and a 30-day multi-entry tourist visa costs Dh917 if the traveller purchases it online. Emirates announces Codeshare partnership with Jetstar Pacific
Emirates and Jetstar Pacific have announced a new codeshare agreement, expanding the existing partnership between the Dubai-based carrier and Jetstar Group. The new partnership with the Ho Chi Minh City-based carrier allows Emirates’ passengers to enjoy connectivity on domestic flights within Vietnam, in addition to flights connecting Vietnam to Singapore, Thailand as well as Australia. The new codeshare services from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi connect Emirates passengers to 14 Vietnamese cities beyond Ho Chi Minh City and six cities beyond Hanoi. Master plan for Kochi airport to meet emergency situations
Kochi airport, the seventh busiest in the country, had been non-functional from August 14 to 28 owing to the devastating flood that shook the entire state between August 8 and 22. The airport authorities had first announced the shuttering of the facility till August 18, which was then extended to August 26 and further to August 29 as water levels continued to rise inundating the runway, the terminals as well as the large solar farm surrounding the airport. The longest flight I have ever had is my flight to Taiwan, back in 2014, which made travel almost 4400 kilometres in a flight. And, in those long hours spent in the flight, I finished two movies, had a couple of snacks and slept for some time, and still, there was more time left made me stare at the ceiling. Air India to start flight services to New York from Mumbai
Air India is all set to start flight services to New York from Mumbai. The national carrier also has plans to resume services to Frankfurt, which it discontinued in 2010, from winters this year. At present, Air India flies to New York, Washington and San Francisco from New Delhi; Chicago from Hyderabad through New Delhi and to Newark from Mumbai. Singapore Airline to have more flights to New Zealand
Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand has decided to boost the Singapore-Auckland services by flying three daily flights. “Together we bring you more of New Zealand” stated Singapore Airlaine in an announcement in their official website. From 28 October 2018, Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand will jointly launch a third daily flight between Singapore and Auckland. Emirates will boost its services to Riyadh with the addition of a fourth daily flight to the Saudi capital from 1 September 2018. Air Arabia to start Prague operations from Sharjah
Air Arabia is all set to open new route to Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, from December 11, through its hub Sharjah. The new route will offer good connectivity from 13 stations in India to Prague. Kochi airport restarts operations after Kerala floods
Kochi Airport, which has been closed since August 15 following incessant rain and flood that caused massive destruction to the state of Kerala, has resumed operations at 2 pm today. Indigo flight 667 from Ahmadabad to Kochi was the first flight landed at the airport. As per the official circular issued by the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) on Monday, all airlines, both domestic and international, will commence with the current schedule of operations. GoAir likely to start international operations from October
GoAir is likely to fly international from October, with the first flight to operate on the Mumbai-Phuket route. The bookings for the international flight will commence soon. The airline is expected to officially announce this development tomorrow. “We will be launching our international operations with a flight to Phuket (Thailand) from Mumbai in October. SpiceJet successfully tests India’s first biofuel-powered flight
SpiceJet today successfully operated “India’s first ever biojet fuel flight” which took off from Dehradun and landed at the airport in Delhi. the national capital. The SpiceJet flight, a Bombardier Q400 aircraft, partially using biojet fuel, was powered with a blend of 75 per cent air turbine fuel (ATF) and 25 per cent biojet fuel, it said. “The advantage of using biojet fuel as compared to ATF is that it reduces carbon emissions and enhances fuel efficiency.
