New Istanbul airport opens, launches first flight to Baku
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has officially opened the first phase of the new Istanbul Airport on 29 October – Turkish National Day. The aircraft of Turk Hava Yolları company operating the first flight from the new Istanbul airport has landed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The airport which spans around 823 million square feet in size, is poised to become the world’s largest airport when completed in 2028. Delhi, Mumbai model development for Trivandrum airport
The Trivandrum International Airport in Kerala, along with five other airports, is to be developed in the lines of the Delhi and Mumbai airports model. The Union Cabinet on Thursday gave an “in principle” approval for operating, managing and developing six non-metro airports — Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru — under Public Private Partnership (PPP). United Airlines seeks service between New York/Newark and Shanghai
United Airlines has submitted a formal application to the U S Department of Transportation (DOT) for authority to increase service between New York/Newark Liberty and Shanghai Pudong beginning in June 2020. Emirates is gearing up to launch the world’s first “biometric path” which will offer its customers a smooth and truly seamless airport journey at the airline’s hub in Dubai International airport. Cochin airport to have 8 new direct flights from 28th October
Winter flight schedule for the Cochin International Airport will be effective from Sunday, 28th October 2018. This will continue until 30th March 2019. As per the new schedule CIAL will have direct flights for 8 more cities. New services will be started for Goa, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, Nagpur, Lucknow and Guwahati. Kozhikode airport regains status as embarkation point for Hajj
Karipur Airport has been reinstated as an embarkation point for Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, 2019. It was informed by Alphons KJ, Union Minister of State for Tourism. Earlier, the embarkation point was changed from Kozhikode to Cochin airport following the runway enhancement works in Kozhikode.
