A no-deal Brexit could risk hundreds of thousands of Travel & Tourism jobs : WTTC

The UK government and the EU must agree on a deal over Brexit to save and secure millions of Travel & Tourism jobs, says the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). WTTC, which represents the global Travel & Tourism private sector, has urged the two sides to come together to find a way to reach a consensus for a post-Brexit trade deal as talks enter their eleventh hour. Thailand to offer ‘Special Tourist Visa’ to visitors from around the world

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has shared the update that the Royal Thai Government is now allowing long-stay visitors from around the world to apply for the ‘Special Tourist Visa’ (STV), previously available only to travellers from countries considered low- to medium-risk for the COVID-19 pandemic. Published in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on 9 December 2020, with immediate effect, this latest announcement covers long-stay visitors to Thailand of all types – from tourists to business travellers, investors and others, as well as travellers and crews of foreign yachts. Kerala High court to hear the plea from Tourism Industry on 21st DEC

Questioning the inaction of the Central government in announcing a financial stimulus package to the tourism sector, the writ petition filed at Kerala High Court by the Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) Society and various Kerala based tour operators, will be heard next on 21 December. The case was initially scheduled for a hearing on 08 Dec, however, the Central government counsel has sought time to file a statement as it involves matters related to government policies. Meghalaya to open doors for domestic tourists from 21 DEC

It’s happy news from the North Eastern side of India. After almost nine months of close down, Meghalaya (The “Abode of Clouds”) is going to reopen to tourists from outside the state. Vistara announces Non Stop flights between Mumbai and London from Jan 21

Vistara, India’s finest full-service carrier and a joint venture of Tata group and Singapore Airlines, will operate special, non-stop flights between Mumbai and London Heathrow from 16 January 2021. Passengers disembark from Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum of the Seas due to COVID detection

Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum of the Seas had to disembark all passengers after a suspected COVID-19 case was detected on board. The suspected cause is an 83-year-old Singaporean male, who reported to the onboard medical center with diarrhea in the late evening of 8 December. He was given a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test as per onboard protocols and tested positive. He was conveyed to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), and is undergoing further tests. His original sample has since been retested and has come back negative for COVID-19 infection. Vistara and Singapore Airlines strengthen their partnership

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Sons Private Limited and SIA, have signed a Commercial Cooperation Framework Agreement.
