Goodricke Group is planning for ‘Tea Tourism’
Goodricke Group Ltd is coming up with an innovative idea of ‘Tea Tourism’, by making one of its tea estates to a tourism hot spot. “Thurbo Tea Estate of Mirik in Darjeeling district will be the tourism spot,” said Atul Asthana, Managing Director, GGL. An unused bungalow in the estate, which is built in 1872 will be refurbished for the purpose. Thurbo estate is located near Nepal and is surrounded by orange and orchid farms. New guidelines for adventure tourism in Maharashtra
The government of Maharashtra has issued fresh guidelines for adventure tourism in the state. As per the new guidelines, it is mandatory for all organizations dealing in adventure activities and tourism in the state to register with the sports department in their respective district of operation. The state school education and sports department has issued a government resolution in this regard on July 26. The resolution details the procedures to be followed during the conduct of all types of adventure activities with set guidelines on equipment, certifications and training, risk mitigation and safety procedures. India planning to boost Chinese tourist arrivals
Tourism Minister KJ Alphons has said that the tourism ministry is very keen to attract more Chinese travellers and is hopeful of boosting their arrivals to 14.4 million in five years. The ministry has introduced a slew of measures which includes promotional events and Mandarin-speaking guides. The minister also informed that the ministry would be setting up its first office at Beijing soon. കേരളത്തില്‍ കടുവകളുടെ എണ്ണം ഇരുന്നൂറിലേക്ക്
ലോക കടുവാ ദിനത്തിലൊരു സന്തോഷ വാര്‍ത്ത. കടുവാ കണക്കെടുപ്പിനായി കാട്ടില്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ച ക്യാമറകളില്‍ 180 കടുവകള്‍ മുഖം കാണിച്ചു. നിരീക്ഷണ കാമ്യറയില്‍ ഇത്രയും എണ്ണം സ്ഥിതിക്ക് ഇരിന്നൂറിനടുത്ത് കടുവകള്‍ കേരളത്തിലെ കാടുകളില്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുമെന്ന് കരുതുന്നത്. 2014-ലെ കണക്കെടുപ്പില്‍ 136 കടുവകളെയാണ് കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. കണക്കെടുപ്പ് അവസാന ഘട്ടത്തിലാണ്. ലോകത്ത് സംരക്ഷണത്തിനായി ഏറ്റവും അധികം തുക ചെലവിടുന്ന വന്യജീവികളിലൊന്ന് കടുവയാണ്. പെരിയാര്‍, പറമ്പിക്കുളം കടുവസങ്കേതങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പുറമേ വയനാട് വന്യജീവിസങ്കേതത്തിലുമാണ് കേരളത്തില്‍ കടുവകള്‍ കൂടുതലുള്ളത്. മറ്റ് വനമേഖലകളിലും കടുവകളെ കാണുന്നതായി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുണ്ട്. പെരിയാറില്‍ 29-ഉം പറമ്പിക്കുളത്ത് 31-ഉം കടുവകള്‍ ഉണ്ടെന്ന് കഴിഞ്ഞ കണക്കെടുപ്പില്‍ വ്യക്തമായിരുന്നു

തിരുവനന്തപുരം: ബിവറേജസ് ഔട്ട്‌ലെറ്റുകള്‍ക്ക് ഒരേ നിറം നല്‍കാന്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ നിര്‍ദേശം. ഓണത്തിന് മുന്‍പ് സംസഥാനത്തെ എന്നാല്‍ ബിവറേജസ് ഔട്ട്‌ലെറ്റുകളും ഒരേ നിറത്തിലാക്കാനാണ് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ തീരുമാനം. ഇതോടെ എവിടെ നിന്നാലും ബിവറേജസ് ഔട്ട്‌ലെറ്റുകള്‍ തിരിച്ചറിയാനാകും. ചുവപ്പ് നിറത്തില്‍ മഞ്ഞയും നീലയും വരകളാകും ബിവറേജസ് ഔട്ട്‌ലെറ്റുകള്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കുക. ലോഗോയും ബിവ്‌കോ എന്ന എഴുത്തും ഒരേ രീതിയില്‍. വെളിച്ചത്തിന്‍റെ ലഭ്യതയനുസരിച്ച്‌ കൗണ്ടറിന് ഉള്‍വശം ഇഷ്ടമുള്ള നിറം നല്‍കി ആകര്‍ഷകമാക്കാം. രണ്ട് ലക്ഷം മുതല്‍ അഞ്ച് ലക്ഷം രൂപ വരെ ഇതിനായി ചെലവാക്കാം.

ഇടുക്കി അണക്കെട്ടില്‍ ജലനിരപ്പ് വീണ്ടും ഉയര്‍ന്നു. 2393.78 അടിയായി ഉയര്‍ന്ന ജലനിരപ്പ് രണ്ടടി കൂടി ഉയര്‍ന്നാല്‍ ഓറഞ്ച് അലര്‍ട്ട് ജാഗ്രതാനിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കും. 2400 അടി പരമാവധി സംഭരണശേഷിയുള്ള അണക്കെട്ട് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഇടുക്കി ജില്ലയുടെ പല ഭാഗങ്ങളില്‍ കനത്ത മഴയാണ് പെയ്യുന്നത്. തൊമ്മന്‍കുത്ത് വനത്തില്‍ മഴയെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന ഉരുള്‍പ്പൊട്ടി. 2400 അടി ജലനിരപ്പ് എത്തുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് തന്നെ സംഭരണി തുറക്കാനാണ് തീരുമാനം. അതിനാല്‍ ഓറഞ്ച് അലര്‍ട്ട് നല്‍കുന്നതിനുപിന്നാലെ ജലനിരപ്പ് 2400 അടി എത്തുന്നതിനു മുന്‍പായി ഡാം തുറക്കാനാണ് തീരുമാനം. ഇടുക്കി ജലസംഭരണിയില്‍ വെള്ളം ഉയരുമ്പോള്‍ ചെറുതോണി അണക്കെട്ടിന്റെ ഷട്ടറുകള്‍ ഉയര്‍ത്തിയാണ് ജലനിരപ്പ് ക്രമീകരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതിനു മുന്‍പു ചെറുതോണി അണക്കെട്ടു തുറന്നതു 1992ല്‍ ആയിരുന്നു. വെള്ളം ഒഴുക്കുന്നതു ചെറുതോണി അണക്കെട്ടിലെ അഞ്ചു ഷട്ടറുകളുയര്‍ത്തിയാണ്. ചെറുതോണി പുഴയിലൂടെ പെരിയാറിലേക്കു വെള്ളമെത്തും. വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷമാണ് സംഭരണി തുറക്കുന്നത്. നിറഞ്ഞ് നില്‍ക്കുന്ന അണക്കെട്ട് കാണുവാന്‍ ഇടുക്കി ഗെസ്റ്റ് ഹൗസ് പ്രദേശം, ഹില്‍വ്യൂ പാര്‍ക്ക്, നാരകക്കാനം മലനിരകള്‍, ഇടുക്കി ടൗണിനു ... At least 10 dead, 40 hurt as 6.4 quake hits Indonesia
A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Lombok today, which killed at least 10 people and injured 40 plus in the tourist island. The quake struck at a depth of 7 kilometers (4.4 miles) at 6:47 am local time (2247 GMT Saturday), the United States Geological Survey said.
