Huge rush expected at Dubai airport this weekend
Travel is expected to peak this weekend for Emirates, as the airline expects yet another busy period with over 100,000 passengers passing through Terminal 3 this upcoming weekend ahead of the winter holiday break. The busiest time for departures will be on Friday 14th December with more than 30,000 passengers scheduled to travel. Peak travel will continue throughout the month with high passenger traffic peaking again on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of December. India starts visa on arrival for South Koreans
After Japan, India has started granting visa on arrival to South Korean nationals. The move is expected to boost tourist arrivals and business visitors to India. The facility to South Korean citizens include double entry visit for a period not exceeding 60 days for business, tourism, conference and medical purposes for entry through six designated international airports – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Around 2 lakh Indian visas are issued to South Korean nationals every year, of which 80 per cent are tourists. On an average, 600 South Korean nationals arrive in Delhi daily. UTB Chairman suggests to appoint Quiin Abenakyo as Tourism Ambassador
Daudi Migereko, the chairperson of the Uganda Tourism Board, has suggested to appoint Quiin Abenakyo, the reigning 2018 Miss Uganda as the tourism ambassador for Uganda. Quiin Abenakyo has finished 3rd in the just concluded Miss World 2018 pageant, which was held on Saturday December 8th at Chinese island of Hainan, where Vanessa Ponce De Leon of Mexico bagged the title crown. Indians can now get visa on arrival to Myanmar
Here’s some good news for Indian travellers to Myanmar as the country has decided to provide visa on arrival for Indian tourists. The information was announced by President Ram Nath Kovind as he began his five-day visit to the country. Myanmar has announced that the visa-on-arrival facility will be provided to those Indian tourists who are entering the country through their international airports, Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, and Mandalay. Women are ten per cent less likely to travel alone than men: Survey
Despite much buzz around the solo travel trend, 30.4 per cent of Americans say they have never travelled alone. And those who have are more than five times as likely to travel domestically than internationally, according to a new survey conducted by Allianz Global Assistance. More than a quarter (27.5 per cent) of Americans have travelled alone for business domestically and 21 percent for leisure, while only 3.2 percent have solo traveled internationally for business and 4.8 per cent for leisure. Tamil Nadu to get USD 31 million ADB aid for tourism development
Tamil Nadu will get a loan of USD 31 million from The Asian Development Bank (ADB) to develop tourism and to enhance employment opportunities in the state. It was revealed by a finance ministry statement issued on December 11. This loan is a part of Infrastructure Development Investment Program for Tourism (IDIPT). “The project (IDIPT) will support the conservation and restoration of 8 heritage monuments, 1 museum, 3 temples and a pond,” states the press release. “It will build various facilities at the tourism sites, including tourist information center, rest centers and toilet blocks, with facilities served by solar-powered lighting ...
