RT Mission plans to introduce story telling and cultural sessions in tourism
As part of diversifying the tourism products and to encourage sustainable tourism models, the Responsible Tourism Mission of Kerala is planning a number of innovative concepts in the tourism sector of the state. The objective of the programme is to recompense the loss in the tourism sector due to drop in the number of tourists in the previous year, due to various reasons. As per RT Mission, several community-level tourism activities such as storytelling and cultural sessions will be launched in the month of March. IHG to come up with Crowne Plaza in Amaravati
The InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a management agreement with Indroyal Hospitality Services for Crowne Plaza in Amaravati. The 300-room hotel will be the first IHG hotel in the city and is expected to be operational by 2024. Emirates to link Phnom Penh and Bangkok with daily service from Dubai
Emirates said it will link Phnom Penh (PNH) and Bangkok (BKK) with a new daily service set to launch on June 1, 2019. The service from Dubai to Phnom Penh, via Bangkok, will provide passengers travelling between the capital cities of Cambodia and Thailand with more flight options. The new service will be operated with an Emirates Boeing 777 aircraft. Flights to Phnom Penh will depart daily from Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 08.45 hrs local time, as EK370, and arrive in Bangkok at 18.15 hrs. Theyyam museum to come up in Kannur
Kannur and the associated northern districts of Kerala are famous for its Theyyam performances. Theyyam is a popular ritual form of worship with several thousand-year-old traditions, rituals and customs. The Government of Kerala is setting up a museum for this divine art form in Kannur. The foundation stone for the museum will be laid on February 28, 2019 as a part of the 100 day celebration of the government. The museum will be set up at Chanthappura in Kalyassery of Kannur. Etihad Airways to increase flights to London during April
Etihad Airways will increase its flights from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow, from three to up to four daily services, to meet peak demand during the month of April. KTDC’s Mascot Hotel celebrates centenary with Five-star status
The iconic Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram is celebrating its centenary this year, with five star status. Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) is planning a comprehensive renovation/restoration project for the hotel with an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore. Emirates to launch new service to Porto
Emirates will launch a four times weekly service between Portugal’s second largest city, Porto, and Dubai, from 2 July 2019. Porto will become Emirates’ second destination in Portugal after its capital, Lisbon, which the airline currently serves with two flights a day. Beach carnival at Shanghumukham beach begins today
The Shanghumukham beach is all set to celebrate beach carnival from today. The carnival organized by the Shanghumukham Art Museum under the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation, will also be supported by Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan and the District Tourism Promotion Council.
