No plan to permanently ban trekking: Kerala min

The forest fire in the Theni – Kolukkumalai region has forced the state government of Kerala to order a ban on all trekking activities in the state. State Forest Minister K Raju clarifies that the government has no plans to permanently shut down the eco-tourism activities in the state. Following the forest fire at Theni in Tamil Nadu, there have been recent fire outbursts in Vazhachal and Pariyaram forest ranges in Thrissur and another one reported near Gavi. AP to organize adventure activities in Kondapalli forest 

The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to organize adventure sports like trekking in the Kondapalli forest area. This was announced by the Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao while addressing a gathering in connection with ‘Women Confidence Challenge’ organised by the Vijayawada chapter of Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) on the hill opposite Siddhartha Arts College. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra: Online registration commences

The online reservation for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, organised by Ministry of External Affairs, has commenced. The last date for submitting applications online is March 23. Every year the ministry conducts the much looked after Kailash Mansarovar yatra during June to September through two different routes – Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand), and Nathu La Pass (Sikkim). Rowing Federation to protect world heritage sites

The world rowing federation also known as Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron (FISA), founded by rowing delegates from France, Switzerland, Belgium, Adriatica, and Italy, have taken an oath to protect the world heritage sites. Indian Navy’s all-women team crosses Cape Horn

A group of six women from the Indian Navy created history by successfully crossing Cape Horn through the Drake Passage, which is the roughest stretch of water on the planet. Sailing in Indian Navy Sailing Vessel, INSV Tarini, the team crossed Cape Horn, the Mount Everest of sailing, as part of the Navika Sagar Parikrama expedition, the first ever attempt by an all-women crew from India to sail around the globe. The project is expected to be completed in a-year-and-a-half,” says the minister.
