Karnataka to focus on adventure tourism
Karnataka Tourism is planning big on adventure tourism, said Rohit Hangal, Director, Sphere Travel media & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, on the sidelines of Karnataka Tourism roadshow in Mumbai. “Karnataka has immense potential in adventure tourism and you will get to see see many new products in this segment soon,” he said. “Maharashtra is one of the best feeder markets for Karnataka, be it hill stations, wild life or pilgrimage. Tamil Nadu International Balloon Festival concludes
The skies of the Sakthi Mills Ground in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu were filled by the hot air balloons, as part of the Tamil Nadu International Balloon Festival. The three-day event, which kick-started on January 12, featured 10 hot air balloons from eight countries. Apart from taking a ride in the balloons, visitors also participated in games organized at the venue. This year’s attractions were special shaped balloons – white CAT from Germany, ice cream from Belguim, and Angry Birds adorned the skies of Pollachi. Air Force team undertakes Chadar trek expedition
To commemorate the momentous occasion of 70th Republic Day, AF Station Thoise conducted a trekking expedition in the daunting terrain of Ladakh region. This arduous expedition on the frozen Zanskar river was undertaken by the air warriors of Air Force Station, Thoise. The team leader and overall coordinator of this adventurous expedition was Wg Cdr Vikrant Uniyal, a qualified mountaineer from Army Mountaineering Institute, Siachen. Eight year old Indian mountaineer climbs Mt Kosciuszko
After conquering Kilimanjaro, 8-year-old Hyderabad boy climbs Australia’s highest mountain, Mount Kosciuszko along with five other members, including his mother and sister. Samanyu Pothuraju has so far climbed 4 mountains, and is now gearing up up to climb Mount Fuji in Japan. The team donned Telangana handlooms while climbing Kosciuszko with an aim to promote handloom weavers in the state.
