Travel to inland villages; Department of Tourism with the new project
In the first phase, the project will be implemented in Kadalundi, Trithala, Pattithara, Pinarayi, Ancharakandi, Maravanthuruthu, Manchira, Valiyaparambu, Kanthalloor, and Chekadi.
The “Street” is inspired by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) ‘motto’ Tourism for Inclusive Growth ‘. “Street” is an acronym for Sustainable, Tangible, Responsible, Experiential, Ethnic, and Tourism Centers. The themes planned as part of the project are Green Street, Cultural Street, Rural Life Experience Street, Experiential Tourism Street, Agritourism Street, Water Street, and Art Street. These themes are in tune with the specifics of each place.
Tourism and Public Works Minister PA Mohammad Riyaz said the project offers great potential for growth in Kerala tour packages and will lead to significant changes. ‘The aim is to present the unique identity of our state to the passengers. This will foster a mutually beneficial biological link between tourism development in the state and the normal life of the people, ”he added.
Responsible Tourism State Mission Coordinator K Rupesh Kumar said the project would help further democratize the tourism sector in the state and offer new experiences to visitors.
The project will be implemented in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. In addition, locals and local bodies will be participating in ‘Street’.
