Restrictions lifted; Tourism centers opened in Kodagu
Daily test positivity rates have dropped and restrictions in Kodagu have been lifted. The third phase of lockdown exemptions, including the Bangalore City District, came into effect on July 5. Accordingly, places of worship and malls were opened and business activities were allowed until 9 p.m. However, due to high diagnostic rates, the lockdown in Kodagu and Hassan was reduced to a second phase exemption. The district administration has decided to allow more concessions in Kodagu as the number of covid cases has come down and the Test Positive Rate (TPR) is below five. As per the special order issued by N Manjunath Prasad, the new exemptions will remain in force till July 19.
Kodagu has been open to tourists since Saturday. With the opening of the tourist areas, shops, restaurants, resorts, and homestays will operate with restrictions. Resorts and homestays in Kodagu had been closed since April 28. B R Nagendra Prasad, president of Kodagu Hoteliers and Resort Owners Association, said it would help strengthen the tourism sector in the wake of the crisis.
