Kodaikanal’s parks close again due to overcrowding
With the easing of lockdown restrictions, the flow of tourists to Kodaikanal, a major tourist destination in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, authorities re-imposed restrictions due to congestion. Permission to visit here was granted since Monday.
The government had given permission to tourists to visit Bryant Park, Chettiar Park, and Rose Park under the Department of Horticulture. But the authorities decided to close these centers temporarily until further orders.
Tourists are not allowed to enter other hill stations in the state such as Ooty and Yercaud. With this, tourists flocked to Kodaikanal. Many of them were also accused of not following the covid rules.
At the same time, there are no barriers for tourists to come and go to Kodaikanal. About 50% of the accommodation will be allowed in hotels. Tourists are allowed to eat meals from the restaurant. The e-pass had been avoided to travel between districts in the state since Monday.
E-pass is mandatory to enter Tamil Nadu from Kerala. In addition, an RTPCR negative certificate is required on return to Kerala.
