Kattadikkadavu is a trekking spot in Vannappuram Panchayath near Thodupuzha in the Idukki district. It is located at a distance of 30 km from Thodupuzha. Kattadikkadavu can be reached by walking about 2 km from Vannappuram Kallipara Junction.
The main attraction of the place is the two hills, Katadikkadavu and Marathakamala. The Katadikkadavu looks like a slashed rock. To reach the top, one has to walk through steep forest paths and through the mist.
After a short section of concrete, the road winds its way up, paved with stones and gravel. On the way, you can see Meenulian rock, another trekking point in the distance. Lands, where coffee and cocoa are cultivated, are also occasionally seen. The Muniyara and the ancient inscriptions inside it are the main attractions of the place.
Marathakamala can be reached by walking about 800 meters from Katadikkadavu. If you look around the top of the hill, you can see breathtaking views. In the distance, you can see the Edathana Kuthu waterfall which falls down in layers. Wherever you look, there are only mountains and lush greenery. Part of the Bhootthankettu Dam. The Elaveezhapoonchira and Thommankuthu areas can be seen from here.
Kattadikkadavu is under the control of the Heritage Farm and Hill Tourism Society under Vannappuram Panchayat. Admission is from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no fee to climb the mountain. This place is always a good place for trekkers.
Plastic is completely banned in Katadikkadavu. Snacks are available at the shops at Kallipara Junction. If you go before 10 in the morning and after 3 in the evening, you will see the most beautiful sights. Kottapara View Point and Anachadi Kuthu Falls are some of the places worth visiting on this trip.
