New Team to lead IATO ; Here’s the complete election results

The long-postponed and much-awaited elections for the Indian Association of Tour Operators IATO elections were held on 06 March’21. The elections initially were scheduled to be held in April 2020 but could not be conducted due to COVID-19.

IATO is one of the largest travel bodies in India and hence the elections always generated much interest, and this year all the industry is going through one of the worst crises in history, and the question of survival and revival looming large.

The outgoing Vice President of IATO, Rajiv Mehra of Uday Tours & Travels was up against Lally Mathews of Divine Voyages for the post of President. Outgoing Sr. Vice President, E.M. Najeeb of Air Travel Enterprises, was fighting against Sarab Jit Singh (Travelite).

Lajpat Rai of Lotus Trans Travel was pitted against Ravi Gosain of Erco Travels. For the secretary‘s post, the contest was between Rajesh Mudgill of Planet India Travels and Rajnish Kaishta of Paradise Holidays India.

In one of the most historic and closely contested elections of IATO, which witnessed polling of 94% (322 Votes) of the Active Members (234 out of 258 plus 89 Outstation Votes), a new Team has taken over.

The final results are as under for the post of office bearers

·       President – Rajiv Mehra (166 Votes)

·       Sr. Vice President – E M Najeeb (177 Votes)

·       Vice President – Ravi Gosain (166 Votes)

·       Hony. Secretary – Rajnish Kaistha (162 Votes)

·       Hony. Jt. Secretary – Sanjay Razdan (172 Votes)

·       Hony. Treasurer – Sunil Mishra
