Arvind Singh Appointed as the new secretary of Tourism, Govt of India
Singh joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1988. His initial assignments were as Assistant Collector at Aurangabad and as Chief Executive Officer of Aurangabad and Nagpur Zilla Parishads. After a stint in the Chief Secretary’s office at Mumbai, he moved to Kolhapur as District Collector.
An officer from the 1988-batch IAS of Maharashtra cadre, Arvind Singh has come into the Tourism Ministry as Secretary after being Chairman of the AAI for more than a year.
Starting his career as Assistant Collector of Aurangabad in 1990, Singh has handled various important responsibilities in both home cadre Maharashtra as well as at the Centre. He was CMD of Maharashtra State Power Generation Corporation Ltd. and Additional Chief Secretary, Power, Maharashtra before becoming Chairman, AAI. He also held responsible positions in various Central departments of Shipping, Chemicals, and Fertilizers, and Finance in the past.
