Kerala High court to hear the plea from Tourism Industry on 21st DEC
The Kerala Travel Mart Society ( KTM ) in its plea to the HC, has raised the issue of ‘inaction’ on the part of the Centre to facilitate the revival of the tourism industry. The petitioners said that the inaction is arbitrary, unreasonable, irrational, unjustified, against the public interest, and therefore a violation of the fundamental rights guaranteed under Article 14, 19(1)(g) and 21 of the Constitution of India.
The Petitioners pointed out that the Central Government and its various agencies are “duty-bound” to ensure that the Tourism Industry, the predominant contributor to the country’s GDP, revenue, and various earnings is not left in the lurch at the time of crisis. “While the government has extended various incentives, stimulus, and assistance to other sectors, nothing has been done to save the tourism sector, which is plainly arbitrary, discriminatory and unjust,”
