Said APT president Hari KC, “This year we are taking a giant leap by having Kochi also as the venue, considering the request from many of the hospitality partners of the region. Kochi being the tourism hub of Kerala, and centrally located, the event will surely draw lot more enthusiasm and participation, from not only Kochi, but also from nearby places like Alleppey, Kumarakom, Munnar, Thekkady and Malabar regions as well. Though this has turned out to be a highly competitive sporting event over the years and a much needed off season activity, the great following for cricket has turned the event into a platform for business networking as well as a coming together of Kerala’s tourism fraternity.
APT secretary Janeesh J said this year around 50 teams are expected to take part. “The quality and competitiveness of the playing teams are on the rise and it also serves as a team building activity for the organisations. The tournament is exclusive for the tourism, hospitality and aviation industry of Kerala and perhaps the only one major cricketing event for the trade,” he added.
APT has been organizing this sporting event at Thiruvananthapuram since 2006 as an off season activity for bringing together the players of the hospitality and tourism trade of Kerala. The event was renamed in 2015 as the Madhu memorial All Kerala Hospitality Cricket Tournament, in the fond memory of one of the founder members of APT, Madhu K.S .
The last edition held in 2019 featured around 25 top teams from amongst various hotels, resorts, houseboats, trade associations, travel agents, airlines and tour operators of Kerala. Tourism Professionals Club ( TPC) , Kochi had emerged as winners , beating Niraamaya Retreats, Kovalam in the finals.
