Kerala Tourism bags three PATA Gold Awards
Kerala Tourism has bagged three PATA Golden Awards – for its Ethnic Restaurant at Kumarakom, Kerala in Women Empowerment Initiative segment and ‘Come Out and Play’ Campaign of Kerala Tourism Travel Advertisement Broadcast Media segment and the website of Kerala Tourism, (www.keralatouirsm.org) adjudged as the best website in Web Site segment in marketing category.
The majority of the RT mission beneficiaries are women, many of them are from the local community involved in traditional jobs. Of the 15500 Responsible Tourism Mission units in Kerala, women groups manage 13500 of them. The ethnic food restaurant – Samridhi – run by a group of eight ladies at Kumarakom, has won wide appreciation. Samridhi, the brainchild of Kerala Responsible Tourism Mission, was started to empower the potential of local women entrepreneurs.
Converting all traditional industries into tourism packages, Creating women cultural groups and connecting them with tourism industry, the formation of Samridhi restaurant to bring the ethnic taste of Kerala cuisine before tourists, paper/cloth bag making units to promote sustainable and environment friendly activities were all started under the RT Mission to empower women. The overall tourism activities and the involvement of women in the state RT Mission were considered for the awards, said a release by RT Mission.
Kerala has also bagged Gold Award for the best Tourism website (www.keralatourism.org), which is created, designed and maintained by Invis Multi Media, the Information Technology partner of Kerala Tourism. The ‘Come Out and Play’ campaign run by Stark Communications has also received the PATA award.
This year’s awards attracted 197 entries from 78 organizations and individuals worldwide. The winners were selected by an independent judging committee. The 2019 PATA Gold Awards Dinner and Award Presentation will take place in Nur-Sultan (Astana), Kazakhstan on Thursday, September 19 during PATA Travel Mart 2019.
