One-day workshop on Adventure Tourism at Kovalam on May 16
Bureau of Indian Standards, Government of India is conducting a one day workshop on Adventure Tourism in association with Kerala Tourism, Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) and with the support of Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) and Tourism India Magazine at UDS Kovalam on May 16, 2019, from 10 am to 1.30 pm. The event will be followed by an interaction between Kerala Adventure Tourism Stakeholders and Tour Operators in Kerala.
Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Kerala, will inaugurate the workshop. The technical session will be moderate by Dr. Rajashree AJith, Director, KITTS from 11 am to 1 pm.
Surina Rajan IAS, Director General of BIS; Rani George IAS, Secretary, Kerala Tourism; P Bala Kiran IAS, Director, Kerala Tourism; Rahul R Pillai MD, KTDC; Baby Mathew Somatheeram, President, KTM Society; E M Najeeb, Sr. Vice President, IATO and Sanjeev Kumar, President, Accredited Tour Operators of Kerala (CATO) will also be present at the function.
BIS is planning to implement International Standards, Certification Procedure(s) in adventure Tourism sector in India with the support of Ministry of Tourism and ATOAI. “All necessary processes and formalities are in place for launching the Adventure Tourism Safety Management System Certification by Bureau of Indian Standards. As a first in a series of certifications, BIS is enthused to launch the pilot certification in Kerala,” it said in a release.
“This workshop will be an ideal platform for all accredited / non accredited tour operators and adventure tourism providers to familiarise the safety and security standards and guidelines in this growing segment in tourism. All the Adventure Tourism service providers in Kerala will be available for interaction with Tour Operators after lunch,” it added.
