Malindo Air launches inaugural flight to Adelaide, Australia
Malindo Air has launched its inaugural flight to Adelaide, via Denpasar (Bali). Flight OD173 with 142 passengers on-board, including CEO of Malindo Air, Chandran Rama Muthy, departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 7:55p.m. on Tuesday and the passengers received a warm welcome this morning by Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Mark Young, upon its arrival. A cake cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the milestone.
“We are delighted to commence our inaugural flight to Adelaide, which marked our 4th city in Australia, after Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne. Our comfortable seat pitch has gained popularity in the market and we have observed positive demand on our Business Class as well,” said Chandran Rama Muthy.
“Currently, we operate four weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Adelaide, via Denpasar. There will be more plans for Australia as we continue to explore opportunities for more frequencies and new destinations. This is in line with our aim to carry more passengers’ traffic to respective airports and promote local tourism,” he added.
“Malaysia Airports welcomes Malindo Air new service to Adelaide, via Denpasar, which will definitely strengthen connectivity for both Malaysia and Australia. Adelaide is the fourth city in Australia that Malindo connects to after Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne. The tourism attractions and business opportunities in Malaysia and Australia will certainly ensure the success of this new service, and we wish Malindo Air all the best on this route,” said Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airports.
“Malaysia Airports have and will continue to collaborate with the Government to ensure that we maximise the effectiveness of our marketing initiatives to attract new airlines and establish new routes. Malaysia Airports also thrives to encourage existing airlines to increase flight frequencies or introduce new routes, as that will provide the passengers greater options and connectivity,” he added.
“We are excited to welcome Malindo Air to Adelaide, offering a full-service product to Bali and on to Kuala Lumpur. Malindo Air will also be the first carrier since 2016 to offer a Business Class product directly between Adelaide and Bali. This service provides South Australian passengers with more choice when heading to two of our most popular destinations, and also creates opportunities to attract South East Asian visitors to our city and local attractions,” said Mark Young.
”The flights between Kuala Lumpur and Adelaide, via Denpasar, are operated on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday using a narrow-body Boeing 737-800/900 aircraft, comprising 12 Business Class and 150/168 Economy Class seats.
