Telengana Tourism organizes Rachakonda Tourism Festival

The three-day Rachakonda Tourism Festival kick started on Sunday, 2nd March 2019 at the historic Rachakonda Fort.

The event is organized by Telangana State Tourism in association with Language Cultural Department and Rachakonda Historical Environmental Tourism Conservation Committee (Rachappa Samiti) to bring the rich heritage of Rachakonda Fort into the limelight and to attract tourists. Rachappa Committee President Bidula Krishna Kumar Jyoti Prasad inaugurated the festival.

Katta Shekar Reddy, Editor of Namasthe Telangana, and his wife Renuka unveiled the book along with school students have released a book titled ‘Rachakonda’ written Bhireddy Nagesh at the celebrations.

“The area is dotted with several temples and historic structures while the fort will highlight Telangana’s culture. It is necessary to give more attention to development of the fort the temple inside”, said Katta Shekar Reddy, after releasing the book

Stating that Rachakonda Fort was a monumental contribution of the Kakatiya dynasty, he called for efforts to promote it as a tourist destination.

V Krishna Kumar of Rachappa Samithi said they had been conducting Rachakonda Tourism Festival every year with the help of the State government.

“The samithi has been working to bring the past glory to Rachakonda area through publicity campaigns on the history of Rachakonda,” said Krishna Kumar.

Besides conducting a photo exhibition on heritage structures, including fort and ancient temples, cultural programmes highlighting Telangana art forms would be presented at the celebrations. It will conclude on March 5. Rachakonda sarpanch Vanga Mallesh and others were present.

Rachakonda Fort is a historic fort located in Rachakonda, in Telangana, India. It was built by the Padmanayaka Velama King Anapotanayaka in the 14th century AD. Till that time the Padmanayakas had their capital at Anumagallu (Present Amangal). At around 1360 AD, the capital was shifted by Anapotanayaka from Anumagallu to Rachakonda where he built a strong fort.
