Bardia National Park selected as World Top 100 Sustainable Destination
The largest national park of Nepal, Bardia National Park has announced it is selected as World Top 100 Sustainable Destinations finalists for this year by the jury experts of Green Destinations Top 100 team and members of the special Top 100 selection panel that included over 60 tourism sustainability exerts.
It is also shortlisted in various categories such as best destination in Asia-Pacific region and best destinations by nature conservation. The destination has been nominated by the Barefoot Adventures in coordination with Nepal Tourism Board. Green Destinations is a non-profit organization which focuses on efforts to create sustainable tourism, leading a global cooperation comprised experts, firms and academy institutions in 80 countries.
The finalists and winner will be announced during ITB Berlin, the world’s largest travel trade show on March 6, 2019. The awards ceremony will be held at ITB’s prime auditorium at Palais am Funkturm Awards Hall at Messe Berlin, Germany.
Green Destinations, Travel Mole, Travelife and ITB Berlin are organizing the sustainable top 100 destination award where tourism entrepreneurs from around the globe, governments and millions of visitors are expected to visit.
Bardiya National Park is also one of the most undisturbed protected areas in the Terai and is home to the endangered Royal Bengal tiger and Nepal’s famous one-horned rhinoceros. The park located in the far western district of Bardiya, is bordered by River Karnali in the west, the Churia range in the north, while the River Babai flows right through. The park hosts 30 different mammals, more than 250 species of birds, and several varieties of reptiles and water animals.
The best time to visit is autumn, winter and early summer when the weather is warm and dry.
