Kerala requests centre to include the state in Incredible India campaign to boost tourism
With an aim to boost the Kerala Tourism, the state tourism minister has requested the Union Minister for Tourism Alphons K J to include the flood-affected state in the Incredible India campaign.
“In order to boost the Kerala tourism industry what actually is needed is to give maximum publicity and marketing highlighting the well placed state of post flood Kerala Tourism. For this purpose, I request you to include Kerala Tourism in Tourism Ministry’s Incredible India campaign,” reads the letter written by Kerala Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran addressing Union Tourism Minister Alphons K J.
The Kerala Budget presented in the Assembly by Finance Minister Thomas Issac on February 1, 2019 has earmarked Rs 372 crore for Kerala Tourism. Out of the total budget allocated for tourism, Rs 82 crore is be earmarked for tourism marketing.
“The most important aspect regarding the growth of tourism industry is effective marketing. Entrepreneurship has increased because of the marketing efforts carried out under the leadership of the government. We need to strengthen the tourism marketing considering the damages of Nipah and the devastating floods and harthals have made on the industry,” said the minister during the budget presentation.
Kerala needs aggressive marketing in the domestic and international front to come out from the damages of the devastating floods last year.
