The service is available from Kannur to Hyderabad, Chennai, Hubli, Bengaluru and Goa. SpiceJet will also start service under UDAN scheme soon.

Besides the existing UDAN services in the country, the services will also be launched in Ghaziabad and Thiruvananthapuram.

Earlier, KIAL has opted out of the UDAN scheme, citing it would adversely affect the revenue of the airport. As per the agreement between the Center, State government and Airports Authority of India for inter and intra-state services, the operator of the airport will not get any revenue from the domestic flights operated under the UDAN scheme because KIAL cannot impose landing and parking and terminal navigation landing charges on the airline in addition to discounts on route navigation facility. Now the central government has relaxed the conditions and agreed that other services will not be permitted in UDAN routes for 3 years.

Meanwhile, Indigo plans to start services to Doha and Kuwait from March 15. Muscat service of Go Air will start on February 28. Services will also start to Bahrain and Dammam
