Around 75 participants attended AURO University’s National Budding Chef Competition
The fifth National Budding Chef Competition by AURO University attracted over 15 teams across India with more than 75 participants. The participants were from Mumbai, Pune, Vadodara, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Rajkot, and Bengaluru.
“The three-day gala chef competition marked the beginning of new era, which will surely establish Surat, Gujarat as the new culinary hub in western India,” said an official release. Chef Davide Cananzi (F&B Wizard), Chef Parvinder Singh Bali, Chef Sudev Sharma, Chef Veena Picardo, Reju S, Abhijeet etc were present at the event.
The three-day annual National Budding Chef Competition, conducted from January 20-22, 2019 at the School of Hospitality, AURO University, Surat, Gujarat, showcased the Culinary Skills and Hospitality Knowledge of students from Hotel Management Colleges across India and the Sub-Continent.
Some of the interesting competitions of NBCC on day one was Kitchens of India, which was a regional cuisine cooking competition with focus on authenticity of recipes, Dessert Competition and lastly Liquid Flavours, which was mocktail making competition judged by best mentors of the industry. Day two featured Vedic Cuisine competition involving use of primitive cooking methods and focus on restoring wholesome nutrition of food, Thematic Cake Decoration competition which involved all teams to dress the cake based on various themes given to them on the spot, European Cuisine – an International cooking competition and lastly Carving competition for new age chefs.
On the third day, only the four top teams of NBCC 2019 competed against each other in Grand Finale competition called The Chef’s Table. School of Hospitality Management, Surat has also conducted its second edition of One Day Seminar on Vedic Cuisine on the sidelines of NBCC. Dignitaries and qualified Ayurveda professionals deliberated on ‘Vedic Paradigm: Food Medicine and its implications on modern lifestyles’. Towards the end of the third day, veterans of leadership team such as President H P Rama and Vice Chancellor Dr Avadhesh Kumar Singh gave away the awards to winning team members.
The participants of D Y Patil Hotel Management, Mumbai emerged as overall winners of the competition. All contestants were given NBCC memorabilia and participation certificates.
