FIBEGA announces first annual Gastronomy Tourism Awards
FIBEGA Miami 2019, the leading gastronomy tourism fair, has announced the 1st Annual Gastronomy Tourism Awards to be presented during the opening dinner of the fair on Friday, May 10, 2019.
The awards will recognize destinations, companies and professionals that, through their leadership and innovation, have made a positive impact and generated greater awareness to the growing gastronomy tourism sector.
“Gastronomy plays a significant role in driving travel to a destination, especially due to tourists seeking experiential travel deeply rooted in the culture of the places they visit. FIBEGA aims to generate awareness on the importance of gastronomy tourism, its impact on local communities and the entire value chain. These awards will honor those who have made significant strides in elevating gastronomy tourism across the globe,” said Roi Correa, President at FIBEGA.
All those who cultivate gastronomy tourism within the travel section are eligible for the awards, which will be reviewed by a jury of industry professionals and journalists. Among the many categories include:

From May 10 – 12, FIBEGA will unite thousands of enthusiasts, and industry professionals including destinations, restaurants, cruise lines, hoteliers, vendors, and foodies to celebrate and showcase all the key players in the sector. In addition to the awards, the fair will host a series of congresses to showcase resources and advancements within gastronomy tourism, as well as speakers from various organizations including the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
In the last edition, FIBEGA attracted 22,000 attendees from all over the world, who flocked to Buenos Aires to experience 800 global exhibitors. Due to Miami’s prestigious location and position as an epicenter for tourism and gastronomy, the city will be the new permanent home for FIBEGA suitable to welcome a greater number of event participants.
