Malaysia ranked 3rd in the most visited Asian country in 2018
According to statistics from World Travel Monitor by worldwide tourism consultancy IPK International, the tourism industry has registered continuous growth in international trips all over the world in 2018.
As per the report that international outbound trips grew by 6 per cent worldwide in the first eight months of the year, with Asia and South America recording the highest increase.
According to travel booking portal Agoda, Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia are the third most-booked city and country in Asia. Japan is the top most-booked country, and Thailand bagged the second position. Bangkok and Tokyo are in first and second place for most-booked city.
Other Asian cities that are popular with travellers this year include Hong Kong, Osaka, Taipei, Seoul, Singapore, Bali and Pattaya.
As per the report Kuala Lumpur was also named as the third most visited city in Asia. KL surpassed other destinations which include Hong Kong, Osaka, Taipei, Seoul, Singapore, Bali and Pattaya.
Citing Malaysia’s cultural diversity, hospitality and friendliness as an attraction, the report also suggests that Malaysia is the number one destination for Singaporeans in the Asia Pacific region. Indonesians ranked Malaysia as its second most popular destination, favouring Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysians also favoured Kuala-Lumpur as their sought after destination. According to the report, Malaysians preferred to travel domestically in 2018, with top local destinations being places such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Melaka, Johor Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Ipoh, Cameron Highlands, Kuching and Kuantan.
As for overseas destinations, Malaysians preferred to go to Thailand and Indonesia.
