LOT Polish Airline bags ‘Best Airline in Eastern Europe’ award
Polish national airline became the “Best Airline in Eastern Europe”, surpassing Aeroflot of Russia and Wizzair of Hungary, among others. US magazine Global Traveler was the organizers of the award.
“The award is proof that LOT is an appreciated and increasingly recognizable airline on the international markets,” stated an LOT spokesperson.
The ceremony, during which awards were given in almost 70 categories, was held in Los Angeles. LOT won the title of “Best Eastern European Line” for the second time, ahead of the Aeroflot, Wizzair and Croatia Airlines.
“We are proud to have received the distinction awarded in the prestigious ranking of the US magazine Global Traveller. It is an important award that testifies to LOT’s growing popularity and recognition, also on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean,” stated Adrian Kubicki, LOT spokesman in the company’s bulletin.
During 2018, PLL LOT has handled 8.8 million passengers, which is two times more than in 2016. The airline is expecting to carry 10 million passengers in 2019. The Polish carrier was also awarded in the category “The best new flight connection” for launching direct flights from New York to Budapest in May 2018.
Currently, LOT offers 107 connections. From the beginning of 2016, the carrier announced the launch of 66 direct flights, including from Warsaw to Miami, Los Angeles, Newark, Seoul, Tokyo and Singapore, from Budapest to New York and Chicago, from Krakow to Chicago and from Rzeszów to Newark.
Global Traveler is a US magazine addressed to US senior managers who often travel across the US and globally. The winners were selected in open surveys completed by Global Traveller’s readers between January 1 and September 30, 2018.
