One of most anticipated films of the year, Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Zero’, has been making fans go awestruck looking at the shooting locations of the movie. Six of the movie’s locations were shot in Alabama and they are now open to fans.
Alabama is preparing for a ‘Zero’ rush, said the Deputy director of Alabama Tourism Department. Here’s a list of six ‘Zero’ locations for you to visit when you plan your holidays next time.
The US Space and Rocket Centre
The US Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama is a museum operated by the government of Alabama, showcasing rockets, achievements, and artifacts of the US space programme. Sometimes billed as “Earth’s largest space museum”, it was opened in 1970 just after the second manned mission to the lunar surface. The centre houses interactive science exhibits, Space Shuttle and Army rocketry and aircraft. The center offers bus tours of nearby Marshall Space Flight Center. It is open on all days of a week from 9 am to 5 pm, except on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
Huntsville Botanical Garden
Huntsville Botanical Garden is a 112 acre oasis, which is open year-round. This wheelchair accessible garden features the nation’s largest seasonal butterfly house and nature center. It also houses an aquatic garden, nature trails, two-acre Children’s Garden and numerous specialty gardens themed with water, dinosaurs, rainbows, mazes, outer space and more. The garden is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Hindu Cultural Centre of North Alabama
A 21-minute drive away from the Huntsville Botanical Garden is the Hindu Cultural Centre of North Alabama. A temple scene of the movie was shot here. This religious site features elaborate statues of deities and symbolises different architecture styles of India. The temple, Sarvajana Mandir, has deities from every corner of India. It is the only temple in the Huntsville area that provides a full range of religious and cultural services.
Huntsville City Centre
The other three “Zero” film sites are all located in the Huntsville’s city centre; the Grill 29 restaurant, the Von Braun Centre and the general Huntsville downtown. CityCentre is the new place to be in downtown Huntsville. Surrounded by shopping, dining, entertainment, and the natural beauty of Big Spring Park, there isn’t a better place to call home. It is Huntsville’s newest location for fine dining and boutique shopping experiences like nowhere else. Stroll through Big Spring Park, grab a meal, then shop some of the city’s finest retailers – all within walking distance of the Von Braun Civic Center and other downtown Huntsville hotspots.
