Selangor enlists top tourism attractions in 2019
Selangor, the state on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, has enlisted the top destinations of the state those would attract travellers in 2019. The venues range from a water theme park to a fruit farm and an outlet mall.
According to the state’s tourism agency, these places and experiences have all emerged as coveted tourism destinations only recently. The Royal Klang Heritage Walk, Sky Mirror, Gua Damai Extreme Park, Bangi Wonderland, Tanjung Sepat, Selangor Fruits Valley and Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA are among the favourite list.
The tourism department also envisages making the state’s ecotourism sector more accessible. Potential areas include Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor.
“We are engaging with stakeholders to maintain quality recreational infrastructure for both locals and visitors alike,” said Noorul Ashikin Mohd Di, General Manager of Tourism.
“Recreational tourism comprises a very important component in maintaining the fabric of rural Selangor and we commend all the efforts that go into planning and developing these initiatives,” she added.
Noorul Ashikin also reiterated the need of maintaining and preserving natural assets of the state, such as waterfalls, beaches and recreational forests.
Tourism generates more than RM5 billion (USD 1.2 billion) in tourism receipts every year. Selangor further said, the state is intensifying their efforts to attract more visitors and to enhance the contribution of tourism to the economic development.
“We are grateful to our tourism partners and industrial players to help boost our promotion initiatives and generate that kind of income for Selangor,” she said.
Medical tourism, edu-tourism, community tourism etc., are also getting significance in the tourism sector of Selangor.
