New year starts with adventure tourism events in Jharkhand
Adventure seekers of Jharkhand and the neighbouring states are going to have fun and adventure filled trips in various parts of the state next month. The state tourism department is all set to conduct adventure tourism events in various districts of Jharkhand from January 11 to 20.
Ranchi, Betla, Netarhat and Chandil Dam are the locations identified for the events,; where over 20 types of adventure activities will be organized.
Various events which people can enjoy includes cycling, bullock cart ride, trekking, stargazing, paragliding, paddle boating, rock climbing, kayaking, rope course, fishing, bungee jumping, cliff jumping, banana boat ride, barefoot skiing, jungle safari, bird watching, rappelling, night jungle walk, motorcycle rally, dragon boat and kite boarding.
“The adventure tourism activities are being organized to attract more tourists to the state. We are offering all major adventure tourism activities right from bungee jumping to kayaking and rock climbing,” said Sanjeev K Besra, Tourism Director.
Tenders have been invited from prospective operators to conduct various events and the selection is likely to be done within a week. Apart from conducting the events, the selected agency would also be responsible for setting up a temporary tourist information centre.
“The selected agency will fix a base price for every event with consultation of government authorities and accordingly prepare the tourism package from Ranchi to each of the selected destination,” said an officer from the department.
All necessary steps to be taken to ensure safety of the events, as in adventure sports events safety will be the given utmost priority. Tourism department has approached the district administration at all the four selected districts to provide sufficient manpower and other safety mechanism during the 10 day event.
The selected agency also is given responsibility to ensure proper safety and security of the assets, manpower and guests.
Local residents are said to be excited on the arrival of adventure tourism events in their areas. A college student said he always wanted to try bungee jumping but going to other states for the experience is something he could not afford. The authorities are expecting adventures enthusiasts from in and around the state will participate in the various activities and make it big success.
