Jammu Tourism organizes twin lake cycle rally
Jammu Tourism department has organized a twin lake cycle rally from Sidhra Golf Course to picturesque Mansar lake via Surinsar. The rally was flagged off by OP Bhagat, Director of Tourism, Jammu on 2nd December 2018.
The Twin Lake Rally was organised under ‘Mansar Sunday Series’ to provide varied experiences to the tourists, youths and adventure enthusiasts.
Secretary, Jammu Tawi Golf Course, Hitesh Gupta, Divisional Sports officer, Ravi Singh, ETO Suraj Chander Singh also accompanied the Director in the flag off ceremony.
The cycle rally passed through Bajalta, Aitham and stopped at Surinsar where the Department of Excise had established a hydration-cum-support point.
“The event is organised to give a impetus to the spirit of adventure among the youth, tourists, cyclists and the avid adventure goers. The aim of the rally is to provide an enriching experience to the nature-lovers who will cycle through Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary,” said an official from the organizers.
The rally provided an everlasting memory to the participants while cycling along the glistening waters of Surinsar and Mansar.
A number of cycling clubs including Jammu Cyclists group led by Goldy and Praveen Raina, JK Randonneurs led by Anil sharma, cyclists from Department of Physical Education JU, JK Cycling Association under Sports Council and individual bikers from Samba, Reasi and Udhampur districts also attended in large numbers.
Excise department, Udhampur-Reasi Range under Corporate Social Responsibility has sponsored T-shirts for the participants.
‘Mansar Sunday Series’ is an initiative of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy for Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), in collaboration with Surinsar Mansar Development Authority. The cultural Bonanza included melodies from Dogra culture, folk songs and folk dances. The picturesque Lake destination was host to a galaxy of folk artists brought from different corners of Jammu region by JKAACL.
