Rashmi Verma retires as Secretary Tourism

Rashmi Verma (IAS), of 1982 batch from Bihar Cadre, has retired from her service today as the Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. She had joined as the Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, in May 2017.

“Secretary Tourism, Rashmi Verma, retired today after doing an exceptionally outstanding job in my Ministry. She has contributed greatly in getting India Tourism to 3rd rank in the WTTC report 2018,” said Alphons K J, Minister for Tourism, in twitter.

Before getting appointed as the Tourism Secretary, Verma was serving as the Secretary in Ministry of Textiles. She had previously served as the Chairman & Managing Director of Bihar Tourism Department as well as Additional Director in Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Verma holds a Post Graduate degree in Political Science with an MBA degree from University Hull.

Yogendra Tripathi will be replacing Rashmi Verma. A 1985 Karnataka Cadre IAS, Tripathy has been Chairman & Managing Director of Food Corporation of India prior to his new appointment as Secretary Tourism. Prior to his position in the FCI, he has served as the Joint Secretary in the Department of School Education.

He has also served at various levels of the government at the State, Karnataka, and in the Central departments during his more than three decade long career.
