Netarhat in Jharkhand beckons adventure lovers for night stay
Netarhat, renowned hill station in Letehar district of Jharkand beckons adventure lovers to experience the new amenities in the tourism center, which is popularly known as ‘Queen of Chotanagpur.
For the first time, Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) has arranged low-cost, Swiss-style dormitory tents for anyone wish to have a thrilling excursion during Sharad Utsav, an annual carnival that began on October 1 and will continue through winter till February 2019.
“This is the second edition of our Netarhat tourism festival. Each of the dorm tents can accommodate 15 persons. The tariff is only Rs 500 per bed per night,” said Rajeev Ranjan, General Manager of JTDC.
Double-bed Swiss cottages are also available as alternative. There are 20 such cottages; per night rental for a cottage is Rs 2,500 with applicable taxes extra.
Large group of 15 adventure-seekers can opt for the dormitory, while smaller groups or individuals can book a bed space in the tent, if they are willing to share accommodation with others.
“We had received an overwhelming response during the first edition of Sharad Utsav. We are optimistic the dorm tent will attract more visitors this time. There are already bookings for December,” said Ranjan.
Among other perks of the carnival, there are chances to taste local cuisine and enjoy performances by tribal artistes on a wintry evening around a bonfire.
The organizers have lined up a host of sporting and adventure events such as bicycle tours, trekking, zip lining, rock climbing, boating, kayaking, water skiing and water zorbing.
“We have finalized an agency to facilitate these events. The rates charged from tourists will be nominal,” said Ranjan.
