Kanye West, renowned rapper and singer of US is on a private visit to Uganda with his wife and popular TV star, Kim Kardashian.

Uganda’s Information Minister Frank Tumwebaze said the visit is “an endorsement of our tourism resources.”

Their visit to Uganda is seen as a plus for official tourism promoters, who were recently criticized by President Yoweri Museveni for not doing enough to promote Uganda’s tourism sector.

The celebrity couple’s visit is said to be a boost to the Ugandan tourism sect as the authorities believe it would help to propagate the country’s tourism attractions to the world.

Local media reported that the celebrity couple alighted at Entebbe on Friday and then flew by helicopter to Chobe safari lodge in Murchison Falls National Park in northwest Uganda.

It is also reported that West is planning to record a new album during his visit. As per local media he has already set up a temporary music studio in the wild.

Swangz Avenue, a Ugandan record label confirmed they are working with West on his new album “Yandhi”.

The rapper who recently changed his name to YE reactivated his twitter account on arrival. He had deactivated his twitter and Instagram accounts last week.

Recently, President Museveni had called upon the Country’s Ministry of tourism and the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and asked to take necessary steps to promote Uganda’s tourism.

“The promotion of Uganda’s potential in wildlife has been poor. Countries that have nothing to show are getting more tourists than Uganda. The Ministry of Tourism and UWA should bring out the uniqueness of Uganda in their promotion of the tourism sector,” said the President.

“We need to systematically work on the roads of the national parks for the tourists to easily access the parks in comfort,” he added.

The tourism ministry is expecting that visit of Ye and Kardishian will give stimulus to the tourism industry through media presence and news about their new music album.
