MoUs for tourism projects worth Rs 3000 crores signed for Uttarakhand

 

Uttarakhand tourism to have tourism projects amounting to about Rs 3,600 crore, which will boost the tourism and hospitality industry of the state. MoUs for the projects were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Tourism and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj on the Investors Meet held on 4th October 2018.

Major MoUs signed include Rs 1885 crore worth project with KK Logistics in rope-way and hospitality sectors, Rs 513 crore MoU with Laser Retreat Private Limited in the hotel business, Rs 275 MoU with Anantraj in rope-way sector.

“Tourism is a major contributor to the economy of the State. With more investment, infrastructure facilities in the tourism sector will witness substantial development. This will also help in provision of more facilities for tourists while also facilitating more employment and self-employment opportunities for the locals and youth. Initiatives being taken by entrepreneurs in different areas of tourism bode well for tourism in the State,” said Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Chief Minister, while peaking on the occasion.

Tourism and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj said that there is immense potential for investment in the tourism sector.

“The State’s effort is also focused on presenting the unmapped tourist destinations of Uttarakhand to the country and the world. Various schemes are being worked out for this and we are have formulated an investment friendly tourism policy, to attract more investment in the tourism sector,” said the Tourism Minister.

While addressing the investors, Dilip Jawalkar, Tourism secretary said that the tourism industry has been exerting substantial efforts to attract more investors to the Investors Summit for the development and management of the infrastructure.

“The investors are finding tourism sector more attractive after the state government has conferred industry status to tourism. Single window system, ease of doing business and various incentives for promotion etc. has made tourism sector projects as preferred choices for investors” said the Tourism Secretary.

The authorities are expecting that the implementation of these projects would boost the tourism sector of Uttaraghand and reiterate its position in the tourism map of the country.
