Entry to all tourist spots free at Visakhapatnam today
The district authorities have made the entry to all tourists spots in Visakhapatnam free on the occasion of World Tourism Day today. The District Tourism Council has lined up several programmes for the celebrations. The theme for this year is ‘Tourism and the Digital Transformation’.
In an attempt to promote various adventurous sports, the District Tourism Council has announced a 20 per cent discount on the tariff for scuba diving and sea kayaking at Rushikonda from 9 am to 4 pm today. Similarly, a 50 per cent discount has been announced on the tariff of adventure sports at Kambalakonda reserve forest opposite to Indira Gandhi Zoological Park from 9 am to 4 pm and paragliding atop Kailasagiri hills from 12 noon to 5 pm.
A ‘tourism walk’ will be organised from Kali Matha temple to YMCA on the Beach Road from 6 am. Tourists and passengers will be welcomed at the airport, railway stations and RTC Complex from 8 am onwards. The main event will be organised at RK Beach, opposite the Viswapriya Function Hall, in the evening. Further, an exhibition will be organised on the Beach Road where the visitors can savour traditional foods from stalls. The exhibition will be opened at 4 pm, followed by the inauguration of the celebrations.
Appreciation certificates and mementoes will be distributed to stakeholders in the tourism sector, followed by cultural programmes.
The Visakhapatnam Region has bagged 14 State-level annual tourism excellence awards in various categories. The awardees include Novotel (best five star deluxe hotel), Fairfield Marriot (best wayside amenity), Travel IQ (best travel agency), Travel IQ (best travel company promoting AP tourism), Travel Home (best inbound tour operator) , The Park (best eco-friendly hotel), Fairfield Marriot (best hotel-based meeting venue), Vizag Convention Centre (best standalone convention centre), Green Park (best restaurant in hotel), Fairfield Marriot (best chef), Sunray Green Spaces (best eco-friendly tourism project), Haritha Resort Araku (best Haritha hotel), Sunray Village Resort in Bhogapuram (Best theme-based resort) and Sunray Resort (best civic management of a tourism destination).
