Tourism stakeholders propose guidelines to revive Kerala Tourism
Short-term and long-term projects are required to boost the tourism sector in Kerala, which has suffered major setback due to the recent floods, opined the tourism fraternity during a meeting held today in Kochi. The travel and tourism stalwarts have also observed that there is a strong need to run marketing campaigns not only in traditional print media, but also in social media, online media and in-flight magazines.
The meeting has urged the software professionals from across the IT parks in Kerala to help in marketing the destination to reach out to more people. The tourism fraternity has also requested the techies to share news and photographs, which showcases the grandeur of Kerala.
“The India-West Indies match scheduled to be held on November 1, 2018 at the Kariyavattom Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum should be taken as an opportunity to market Kerala Tourism. The state government should take the initiative to talk to BCCI and get the required permissions,” urged the tourism fraternity.
The meeting also observed that bloggers from across the world should be brought to Kerala. The state tourism department should take initiative to conduct roadshows across the different states in India. All the arts and cultural festivals including the Kochi-Muziris Biennele should be made a part of the official events calendar, it said.
The government should take initiatives to joint promote the destinations in Kerala in tourism/travel fairs. Moratorium should be declared for those who took loans to start tourism infrastructure and logistics projects. The meeting has also requested the government to consider developing a corridor connecting Kochi and Munnar.
