Uttar Pradesh to become a wellness and spiritual hub: Yogi

Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has announced that his state is envisaging becoming the country’s spiritual and wellness hub. The CM said the government is targeting annual investment of Rs 50 billion in the tourism sector. He was addressing the 53rd annual convention of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) on 21st September 2018 in Lucknow
“Under the central roadmap to boost domestic tourism, UP is having the maximum religious tourism hubs in the country, which includes the Ramayan Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, Krishna Circuit, Sufi Circuit, etc.,” said the CM.

Referring the forthcoming Kumbh Mela 2019 at Prayag, Allahabad; Yogi said around 130 million domestic and foreign visitors were expected to participate in the gathering during January to March, which is considered the largest human gathering in the world.
“UP also have limitless possibilities in the health and wellness sector, since the state possesses a large network of modern hospitals and qualified doctors. Furthermore, India has been becoming the favourite place for medical tourism for foreigners, due to the affordability factor,” he added.
The government is planning to develop wellness centers across the state. The traditional medical treatments like Ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy are getting more acceptances around the world and it will be beneficial for the state to promote the traditional medical practices.

The new tourism policy of the state is giving emphasis to other tourism segments also, like ecotourism, wildlife tourism etc. and seeks to upgrade the tourism infrastructure and attract private investment.
He said several investment proposals related to the hospitality and tourism sectors are with the government and government would support these entrepreneurs.
“UP today is a state with unlimited possibilities and the government has been envisaging a new era of growth and development. Earlier, pessimists wondered as to who would be willing to invest in the state,” said Yogi.
