First batch of 75 tourists arrives at Munnar in a Scania bus

Kerala has been getting back to normal after the devastating rain and flood that has caused terrific damages to the state’s infrastructure and economy. Tourism was one among the major sectors experienced widespread damages. However, with the tireless efforts of the state tourism department and the government machinery along with the selfless support of the tourism fraternity, the state has been reinstating most of its tourism destinations to normal.

All the restrictions on tourist destinations have been lifted by the authorities. Major tourist destinations like Munnar and Thekkady are ready to receive tourists and most of the damaged roads have been repaired or reconstructed to enable smooth transportation.

To add to the confidence of the people, first batch of tourists have arrived at Munnar in a big Scania bus on 15th September 2018.  The group consist of 75 members of TOAK (Travel Operators Association of Kerala. They have chosen a big Scania bus to make the public aware that there was no roadblocks and Munnar is safe to visit.

Entire Munnar fraternity joined hands with Showcase Munnar Association for Responsible Tourism to welcome them to Munnar.

Warm welcome for the first ever group, after the floods, were arranged by  Showcase Munnar, DTPC (District Tourism Promotion Council), Vyapari Vyavasayi Samithi (Traders and Industrialists Association), MHRA (Munnar Hotels and Restaurants Association) ,Team Adventure and other organizations.

As part of social responsibility, they have tied caution ribbons and boards on the edge of the roads are bridges where the repair works are going on.

Munnar Tourists Taxi Drivers association welcomed them in Munnar Taxi Stand.

Mr. Anil Kumar, President TOAK expressed their sincere thanks to Showcase Munnar and other organizations for the warm welcome arranged in Munnar.
