Car and bike rally to woo visitors to Munnar
The big floods have had a blow on the tourism in Kerala, especially the hilly destination Munnar. Hardly a couple of weeks after the floods, Munnar is coming back as the Neelakurinji started blooming in many parts.
In a bid to revive the tourism sector in the flood-hit Munnar, the associations of Hotels, Resorts, Tour Operators, Merchant’s Associations, and Activity organisers are coming together to conduct a car and bike rally. The rally, conducted in association with The Department of Tourism, will start from Kochi and reach Munnar, covering major town in Kochi and Idukki districts.
The rally will begin from Darbar Hall Grounds at 8 pm on September 12 and reach Munnar the same day by evening. “We are sure that the Rally will definitely help to revive tourism industry which is facing a severe setback now,” said Aju Abraham Mathew, Secretary of Showcase Munnar.
The rally will be flagged off by Baby Mathew Somatheeram, President of Kerala Travel Mart and Abraham George, Chairman KTM Foundation).
Visit Kurinji logo will be released by Nandakumar, Joint Director, Kerala Tourism at the event. S Rajendran MLA will inaugurate the closing ceremony at Clouds Valley Hotel at 6.00 PM.
