Tourism Professionals Club supports flood victims
Kerala is slowly recovering from the devastating flood that caused widespread destruction to the state. Thousands of houses damaged fully or partially. Many of the people lost their home appliances and utensils. It will take time to reinstate the lives of the flood affected areas. In order to alleviate the losses of the flood ridden people, Tourism Professionals Club, a non-profit organization of people working in the tourism industry, has expressed their willingness to provide the necessary household items to 100 homes.
Tourism Professionals Club (TPC) is a non-profit, membership based organization to provide updates on market intelligence and information about Tourism Industry. The Club is also dedicated to extend privileged services to Corporate and individual members who contribute to the development of the Kerala Travel and Tourism Industry both Inbound and Outbound.
“The Club will provide home appliances and household items to 100 homes at the Pazhampalli Thuruth, near Kodungallur,” said Vinesh Vidya, President of Tourism Members Club to Tourism News Live.
The club is aiming at helping those in the innermost parts of the flood affected areas, where no other relief teams have reached yet. The club is conducting surveys in the area, in order to find the deserved people and to assess their requirements.
Initially the club will accumulate Rs 10 lakhs and buy goods for the deserved ones. If more funds can be raised, it may extend the service to more areas.
“We plan to provide the essential items like coats, beds, stoves, bed sheets, note books etc. as immediate relief. The items will be gathered in the store in Chendamangalam in Eranakulam and distribute from there to the deserved people as identified by the survey,” said Vinod. “We hope to hand over the items by September itself,” he added.
Apart from the efforts of Tourism Professionals Club, lots of members from the tourism fraternity have been actively taking part in the rescue and relief operations in the flood ridden areas.
