Heavy rain in Delhi: Vistara offers alternative flight for passengers coming late
Heavy rain hit several parts of Delhi and adjoining areas today, 28th August 2018. Water clogging caused traffic jams in different parts of capital city. The Meteorological department has predicted rain in Delhi till Thursday.
Delhi and Gurgaon have been experiencing rain since morning. Social media pictures showed cars and bikes driving through flooded roads. Some of the schools in Gurgaon remain closed due to the bad weather.
Delhi Traffic Police has issued alerts on Twitter with the hash tag #DelhiRains, which is one of the top trends on Twitter this morning. The traffic towards the busy Delhi-Jaipur-Mumbai highway was also disrupted.
“Our team is trying to make the traffic movement smoother,” said Heera Singh, Gurgaon Assistant Commissioner of Police.
Meanwhile, Vistara Airline tweeted that they would accommodate passengers who arrive late at the airport, due to rain and traffic jam, to the next available flight, without any additional charges, but the probable fare difference of the ticket, if any.
