Delhi’s signature bridge set to open soon
The Signature Bridge of Delhi is all set to open by the end of October this year. The Signature Bridge is looked upon as one of the next top tourist hotspots in the city, which will have a 154 m high glass box to allow visitors get a bird’s eye view of the city.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia recently said that the construction work on the bridge is almost complete and it will likely be opened for public use by October 31. The bridge is said to be the first asymmetrical cable-styled bridge in the country, it will be 675 m long and 32.2 m wide. As per the news reports, all work related to the construction of the bridge will be completed in two months.
In fact, the proposal to construct the Signature Bridge was first initiated in 2004. The Delhi Cabinet, however, granted it a green signal in 2007. Though it missed several deadlines, it is now almost ready to be opened by the end of October.
The said bridge will be connecting Delhi and Uttar Pradesh’s industrial areas. It is further expected that its opening will reduce the travel time between north and northeast Delhi. Also as per the latest news reports, the bridge apart from being a tourist attraction, will even serve to share the load of vehicular traffic being borne by the Wazirabad Bridge.
