Hike in tourism occupancy of Maldives in first quarter
The tourism occupancy rate in Maldives reached 75 per cent in the first three months of 2018, which is 5 per cent more than that of the same period last year. It was reported by the Maldives Monetary Authority.
The information was from the quarterly business survey of the Maldives Central Bank. As per the report, tourism industry’s occupancy rate hiked to 75 per cent in the first quarter of 2018 from 70 per cent of last year over the increased average guest night stay.
The statistics shows, the tourism industry is performing well in terms of tourist foot prints to the island nation. The tourist arrival rate showed a 17 per cent growth in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the same quarter last year.
Similarly, the average night-stay of tourists has also increased by 18 per cent in the first three months of 2018.
The Maldives tourism industry earned USD 993.5 million during this period, marking a 20 per cent hike from the same period last year.
According to latest statistics regarding inbound tourism in the first half of 2018, a total of 726,515 tourists have visited the Maldives in this period, marking a 10.5 per cent increase in tourist arrivals when compared to the same period last year.
