Tourism fraternity all set for Badminton tournament in Munnar

After ‘Shoot the Rain’ and ‘Madhu Memorial Cricket Tournament’, tourism fraternity in Kerala is coming up with another sports event. Munnar Destination Makers (MDM) is organising a badminton tournament, in memorial of Sudheesh, who was the Manager of Munnar Cook Maker Resort and Executive member of MDM. The event will be held at the Ace Badminton Academy near East Farm, Adimali on 4^th and 5^th August 2018.

The title sponsor of the badminton tournament is Blanket Hotel, Munnar whereas Uniqloth and Spice Country are sponsoring a cash award of Rs 20,000 and an ever rolling trophy for the winners.

Sudheesh was a vibrant presence in MDM, which is an organization comprising resorts, hotels and others in the hospitality industry. Earlier, a programme named ‘Kaithiri’, was arranged to provide financial assistance to his family, on his untimely demise.

Sabu PK, Circle Inspector of Police, Adimali, will inaugurate the event on August 4 at 10 AM. Thirty two teams from the tourism industry will participate in the tournament. The event will conclude at 2 PM on August 5. Nanda Kumar K, Regional Joint Director of Kerala Tourism, will be the chief gust of the event, who will distribute the prizes to the winners.

K Shine, Deputy Director, Kerala Tourism; V V George, President, Munnar Hotels and Resorts Association (MHRA); Scaria Jose, Kerala Travel Mart Management Committee Member; Advocate Babu George, President, Smart Munnar etc. will participate in the closing ceremony.

After the event, there will be a friendly cricket match between Kerala Tourism Tuskers and Munnar Destination Makers.
