Jatayu Earth Center’s phase II will be operational on Aug 17
The second phase of Jatayu Earth Center project will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on 17th August 2017, informed Tourism Minister Kadakampalli Surendran. The project, located at Chadayamangalam in Kollam, includes the sculpture of the great mythical bird Jatayu mentioned in the Hindu epic Ramayana, cable car – fully manufactured in Switzerland, adventure park and helicopter local flying service. The sculpture at the Earth Centre is considered the largest bird sculpture in the world.
This is the first time the state to have helicopter local flying service as part of a tourism project. Permission for the service has already been obtained as stated by the CMD of Jadayu Earth Center, Rajiv Anchal. “Due to the adverse weather condition, the project could not complete as per the pre-planned time,” he added.
Besides the Chief Minister, other cabinet ministers, MLAs, members of local bodies, eminent personalities from the social and cultural arena will also take part in the inaugural function.
Jatayu Earth Center with a total area of 65 acres is the first BOT (Build-Operation-Transfer) project in Kerala tourism industry. This prestigious project of Kerala Tourism is going to be the center of attraction in the entire tourism map of India.
There will be entertainment programmes with emphasis on cultural tourism. This will enhance the possibilities of cultural tourism in this area. “Show casing the largest bird sculpture in the world, along with amenities of international standards, Jadayu Earth Center will become a milestone in the tourism development of Kerala,” said Kadakampalli Surendran.
A sum of Rs 400 will be charged for each tourist – Rs 250 for cable car, Rs 150 as entrance fees to avail the facilities of the park.
