Nishagandhi Monsoon Music Festival in July
Malayalis (people of Kerala) love monsoons, the pitter patter of the downpour, the smell of the rain-fed land, everything associated with rains, is accepted with great fervour and love in this part of India.
The Kerala Tourism Department is all set to explore the beauty of monsoon with the Nishagandhi Monsoon Music Festival. The department will organize Nishagandhi Monsoon Music Festival in the city in July at Kanakakkunnu Palace Grounds in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala.
Nishagandhi will host renowned musicians from across the country this July. The tourism department has earmarked a sum of Rs 1 crore for the festival and is in the process of holding talks with eminent artistes in the country to stage performances. The date of the event will be fixed based on the availability of the artistes.
A dance festival would also be organised as part of the event, which will feature some mainstream and traditional Indian and exotic music forms. The department had organised monsoon music and dance festival a couple of years ago, and is planning to restart the festival with an aim to attract more domestic travellers to the state. The first three months of 2018 saw 6,93,231 domestic footfalls in the capital city, registering an increase of 23.73 per cent compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.
