Andhra Pradesh plans to boost rural and temple tourism

During the Masula Beach Festival at Manginapudi, Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu said the potential of rural and temple tourism was yet to be tapped in the state.

“The tourism sector will be able to contribute in a big way to the State’s economy. The immediate plans are to prepare a tourism development plan and giving a boost to temple and rural tourism across the State,” said the Minister.

In response to a request by Law Minister K Ravindra to develop the Manginapudi beach, ₹20 crore for completing the 5 km road that connects Machilipatnam with the beach has been sanctioned by the finance ministry.

Minister for Water Resources, Uma Maheswara Rao promised to expedite the Machilipatnam deep sea port. A logistic hub in 1000 acres will be set up in Machilipatnam by the Container Corporation of India Limited. Gathering of land for the purpose has been hurried up, as per the officials.

Earlier the Tourism Development Corporation chairman V Jayarami Reddy said Masula beach has vast scope for development as a tourism hub and as per the directions of the Chief Minister, efforts are being made to improve the facilities. He said, “With the improvement of road, rail and air connectivity, more tourism footfall can be witnessed in the coming days.”
