Greece’s stature as MICE Tourism destination to be enhanced

Greece is gearing up for the world’s most prominent shipping exhibition, ‘Posidonia 2018’. The event which will be conducted from June 4th-8th at the Athens Metropolitan Expo is expected to bring around 20,000 visitors to the country. Conferences, seminars, workshops and interesting panel discussions will be conducted as part of the exhibition. The events are projected to shape the global shipping agenda and outline the future of the industry that sits at the core of world economic developments.

Posidonia is ready to host around 1,960 exhibitors from 91 countries which include professionals from a wide range of maritime industry sectors. The exhibition will boost the inbound tourism numbers of the country and will heighten Greece’s image as a popular MICE destination, which is fitting to holding major exhibitions, international conferences and corporate events. The Posidonia event is expected to bring revenue of $62 million to the country’s economy in terms of accommodation, dining, building stands in the expo and customs expenses for the clearance of the products they exhibit at the show. “The exhibition adds to the country’s inbound tourism numbers. MICE tourism has multiple benefits, as we are referring to business visitors or tourists who spend more on average than leisure visitors. Many trade visitors that come to Posidonia, extend their stay and visit the islands when the exhibition is over,” said Theodore Vokos, Executive Director, Posidonia Exhibitions SA.
