China enticing more and more Kenyan tourists
The introduction of direct flights between Nairobi and Guangzhou have resulted in boost in number of tourists, as the reports indicate that around more than 1,20,000 Kenyan passengers have arrived in the Chinese city since 2015. The Kenyan passengers mostly fly these days to the city for buying goods. The number of tourists is expected to rise as Guangzhou is making plans to entice more Kenyan tourists to the city.
Wu Wei Jun, General Manager of Nairobi office of China Southern Airlines, said Guangzhou is being promoted as a tourist destination, that the Kenyans can visit the destination for leisure as well. The initiative was begun last year with the signing of the Strategic Co-operation Agreement between Guangzhou Tourism Administration and China Southern Airlines last year. The Chinese city has then focused on improving the tourism amenities, maintaining and raising the standards and quality of hospitality too.
“We are proud of building a flyover between Africa and China, and of making Guangzhou a city not only attractive for Tourism, but also for trade exhibition and fair. The partnership with Kenya Airways, the passengers from most of the African countries has been connected first to Kenya then to Guangzhou of China. If Guangzhou is not your destination, you can also be transferred seamlessly to China’s other domestic cities and the other international destinations like Japan, Korea, Australasia and countries in Southeast Asia,” said Wu Wei Jun.
